Arsenal will sign Sambi Lokonga very soon, claims Kristof Terreur

Sambi Lokonga

As per HLN journalist Kristof Terreur, it is only a matter of time before Arsenal complete the signing of Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

They have been linked with the player all summer and it was earlier reported that the Belgian had agreed personal terms with the Gunners. The 21-year-old is an exciting talent and will be quite a coup.

After Anderlecht had announced a new signing, Terreur was asked if the new player is Lokonga’s replacement. Responding to this query on Twitter, the journalist confirmed that the youngster was on his way to the north London club.

Terreur responded by saying:

“No. But they are working on a Lokonga replacement. Lokonga to Arsenal is just a matter of time.”

Sky Sports claimed a couple of days back that both the clubs are close to an agreement for the U-21 international.

It is time for the Gunners to start making moves in the transfer market and this is a step in the right direction. The midfielder is highly rated and getting him to the Emirates club represents some good business.

Improving the squad is not limited to signing players who can enhance the team immediately, but is also about securing the future and that can be done with talents such as Lokonga.

The Belgian is a brilliant dribbler, able to get away from the opposition defenders with ease. Of course, the level of competition in the Premier League is worlds apart but the player looks like he’s up to the challenge.

The raw ingredients are present for the 21-year-old to become a great player very soon. One aspect that we’ll have to wait and see is how well the midfielder adapts to Mikel Arteta’s style.

If this adaptation happens quickly, the Anderlecht man will start featuring in the first team more. This could be the first of many players to come in and that is a good sign. It is only a matter of time before we get to see Lokonga in the red and white, and that is an exciting thought for the fans.
