Arsenal will most likely part ways with Lucas Torreira this summer

Lucas Torreira

As per a report from Italian publication La Nazione(via Fiorentina Uno), Arsenal are likely to part ways with Lucas Torreira with Fiorentina keen on making the transfer permanent.

After arriving in the summer of 2018, it looked like the Gunners had found their new midfield enforcer. While things started off very well, it was clear that the Uruguayan was not at home. This resulted in a loan last season to Atletico Madrid and now he finds himself in the Serie A.

According to the report, the Italian club ‘have fallen in love with the midfielder’ who has become the fulcrum of the side’s midfield. La Nazione go on to state that when someone from Florence makes a trip to London with €15m, the transfer will go through without any complications.

Torreira and his representatives have met with Fiorentina over the player’s future. And now, it is believed that the Viola will trigger the fee that was agreed when the north Londoners sent their midfielder on loan.

Arsenal Fever View:

Though the 26-year-old is a terrific player, it is clear that he is not the type of option Mikel Arteta wants in midfield. This was clear when the player was in England, and it has resulted in him moving on loan.

The best solution for all parties involved is that the Uruguayan makes the move to Florence where the midfielder has settled in beautifully. Under the tutelage of Vincenzo Italiano, the club are in the hunt for European football and their South American star has a big part to play in it.

For a while it had looked like Arsenal had found a bargain in Torreira but sadly it was not to be. Back in a league where he feels more comfortable, the 26-year-old has shown once again why he was so highly regarded. The Gunners stand to recover some of the money they had spent on the midfielder. As Arteta’s vision moves forward, it could do with the additional funds that will arise from this sale.
