According to The Daily Mirror, Arsenal are weighing up a move for Yacine Brahimi after failing to land Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez.
Brahimi has scored 21 goals in 85 appearances for Porto since making his debut for the Primeira Liga outfit back in 2014. According to 90min, he is rated at a staggering £40m
Porto are prepared to sell the attacking midfielder/winger, but they will demand a fee of £40million. Brahimi was left out of Porto’s Champions League qualifier in midweek and this started all the speculations surrounding him.
It is claimed the Algeria international wants to leave Porto, and Arsenal are now weighing up a swoop for Brahimi. It was thought that Liverpool and Chelsea were also interested but recent reports claim that they have no intention of signing the Algerian winger.
An Algerian international, Brahimi is a former France youth international having represented the country at all youth levels. A huge admirer of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger’s playing style, the speedster is keen on a move to Arsenal.
Described as “Technically gifted player”, Brahimi is known for his great dribbling abilities and ability to take on players. Described by many coaches and journalists as a “Versatile winger that is unpredictable”. Brahimi has earned himself the name as a great dribbler and a winger with pace and skill, earning himself the 2014 BBC African player of the year.
Whether there is any truth to the rumour is questionable however, as one gets the feeling the story is more about the breakdown in relationship between Brahimi and the Dragons, while Arsenal’s name has been name-dropped as Gooners call out for their club to sign somebody, anybody.
Wenger has outlined his transfer policy of ensuring he gets value for money at the Emirates, Brahimi could be the one to replace Joel Campbell as he looks set on a move to Sporting CP on a season long deal. He could also be signed in place of a striker with Sanchez playing upfront and him playing on the left flank.
While Brahimi could bolster their options in attack, Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi is set to be unveiled as an Arsenal player in the coming week.
