Despite Arsenal being in the form that they are in, the imminent arrival of the January transfer window will mean
One such player who has been linked with the North London club for a long time is Wilfried Zaha. The Ivorian was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates during the summer but Arsenal decided to sign his national teammate Nicolas Pepe.
But if the latest reports are to be believed, Arsenal are back in the race to sign him. As per the Express, the Emirates club will fight it out against London rivals Chelsea to get their hands on the in-demand forward.
The West London club was punished with a two-window transfer ban but Court of Arbitration for Sport(CAS) has halved that punishment which will allow them to bring in some new players.
The report further states that Crystal Palace haven’t changed their mind on Zaha’s release clause and will still demand £80m to let him go and there’s no point in doubting their resolve considering the fact that they made United pay a staggering £50m for Aaron Wan-Bissaka last summer.
Zaha has been a highly impressive player ever since he made a move back to Crystal Palace. And with Frank Lampard’s team reportedly having £150m to spend in the winter transfer window, it will be interesting to see how Arsenal can get him.
The history between Zaha and Arsenal suggests that the Gunners will indeed go back and try to sign the Ivorian. If they are able to get him, it will completely transform their attack. Zaha’s pace and skill have proven to be difficult to deal for a number of Premier League full backs.
A front three of Pepe, Aubameyang and Zaha is a frightening prospect for any defense to deal with. Though it will be difficult to snatch him from the clutches of Chelsea, doing so will be a huge statement of intent.
Zaha is at the age where he would want to play European football on a regular basis which is not really going to happen at a club like Crystal Palace as soon as he would like. The other two London clubs present a great opportunity for a player like him. It will be down to Arsenal and Chelsea to convince him and Gunners fans will be hoping that it is their club that can get the job done.
