The Hector Bellerin transfer saga appears to have taken a fresh twist with Barcelona willing to offer one of three first-team players in a part exchange deal. The 22-year-old has emerged as a regular in the Gunners lineup over the past few seasons.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims that Barca could revive their never ending interest in Bellerin as they seek to fill up the void left by Dani Alves last summer.
The Catalonia-based club used numerous players including Aleix Vidal, Sergi Roberto and Rafinha in the right-back spot, but none were particularly impressive in their defensive side of things.
As a result, the former La Liga champions have stepped up their pursuit of Bellerin with the prospect of using one of Rafinha, Denis Suarez or Arda Turan as makeweight in the proposed deal.
Suarez barely earned a run at the Camp Nou last season, and he could be packing his bags alongside Rafinha, who was largely confined to the substitutes’ bench prior to his season-ending injury.
Meanwhile, Turan has seemingly grown frustrated playing second fiddle to the ‘MSN’ and he is eyeing up a new challenge with London being his preferred destination for the summer.
Out of the trio, Turan looks the most likely prospect to join the north London club in the summer, but there are still doubts whether Arsenal would be willing to risk the sale of Bellerin.
Bellerin who is rated at £43m, has recently refused to rule out a potential return home with his family having relocated to Catalonia for personal reasons.
“You never know what could happen. It’s a club that I grew up in as a kid, the best club in the world,” he is quoted as saying on The Independent. “It’s a big compliment, of course, but I’m an Arsenal player with a contract there.
“It’s always been very good in London, my family settled there with me, although now, for family reasons, they have had to return to Barcelona. I have a tougher time now because I’m a family person, I depend on them a lot, and it’ll be a new challenge to be without them.”
Bellerin performed fairly well in the backend of last season as he managed to hold onto the right wing-back position for the FA Cup final against Chelsea, forcing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to adjust on the opposite flank.
