Arsenal on the back of a crushing defeat to West Ham United travel north to Nottingham Forest this Wednesday, so let’s take a look at the latest team news.
The Gunners are currently 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool and the challenge to reach the top is all but done. And given the form that the hosts have shown this season, it will not be a surprise if Mikel Arteta faces another defeat.
As for the team news, the major injury absentees are Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Takehiro Tomiyasu. The two wingers are still far away from returning while the other two will only be seen next season.
There is another problem for the manager with the suspension of Myles Lewis-Skelly as the youngster was sent off against the Hammers. This will force Arteta to reshuffle the selection. Apart from this, Ethan Nwaneri was seen limping on Saturday but he will be available for this game.
Arsenal Fever View:
The Gunners could not capitalise on the points that Liverpool have dropped, and it appears that the Reds have more or less sealed their position at the top of the table. This is surely going to be a difference too big to overcome.
While the north Londoners can claim to have been wronged by refereeing decisions, a lot of it is down to their own actions. But for now, they have to focus on the game against Forest who have been the surprise package of the season.
No one expected them to be in the race for the Champions League spots and that is proof of how solid they have been. Getting the better of them is not easy especially at home where the hosts have been near impenetrable. And the visitors who arrive with a depleted attack will find it extremely tough to break down that defence.
Arsenal need to focus on their own game and forget about what is happening at the top of the table. Their fate is not their hands now so the idea should be to get maximum points. The City Ground has proven to be quite daunting for every team and so far and if the Gunners can return with a win, it will give the team a big boost of confidence.
