Arsenal Team News against Liverpool: Smith Rowe, Tomiyasu, Xhaka

Arsenal Team News

After a tumultuous week, Arsenal will now have to make the trip to Anfield and facing off against Liverpool on their home turf is not going to be easy so, let’s take a look at the team news.

Mikel Arteta has a lot of decisions to make given the number of players that will not be available. While it is good to make use of the youngsters, their lack of experience may prove to be a problem against a team like the Reds.

As for the team news, due to the ongoing AFCON, the Gunners will not have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Nicolas Pepe. Granit Xhaka is a doubt as well after testing positive for Covid ahead of the Nottingham Forest game.

There are further problems for the north Londoners as they may be without the services of Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu. The duo will be assessed ahead of the match and Arteta will be hoping that they will emerge fit.

Arsenal Fever View:

The Carabao Cup presents a great opportunity for the Gunners to get their hands on a trophy this season. And though the Reds do not have Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, they still have some great players who can cause real damage.

For the visitors, they need to focus on their energy levels which was severely lacking against Forest. If they can replicate some of their performances from December, the north Londoners stand a good chance of coming away with a good result

Dealing with the Liverpool press is going to be important for the visitors to get into good positions. They have the talent to do that and if their attackers step up their game, chances should start flowing.

Arsenal will know how good a chance they have of reaching Wembley and fighting for some silverware. But with a depleted squad, Arteta will have to motivate the players to put their best foot forward. For the Gunners, it is essential that they do not give away too many goals and they should look to get one of their at the very least.
