Arsenal Team News against Liverpool: Aubameyang and Partey

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal will look to continue their ten-game unbeaten streak when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Saturday, so let’s take a look at the team news.

It is funny how fast things change as the Gunners looked down and out when the first international break was upon us. But not even three months later, the fortunes of the club could not be more different.

They sit in fifth place and a win in this game will help Mike Arteta leapfrog Jurgen Klopp and move into the coveted Champions League places.

There are two players who are doubtful for this match. One of them is captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who returned early from international duty. Though he is being assessed ahead of Saturday, there is optimism that the forward could be starting.

The other player who is doubtful for the game is Thomas Partey, as the midfielder stayed back at Emirates and didn’t join his national team due to an injury. He too is being looked at and a decision will be made on his availability.

There is good news for the north London club with Kieran Tierney getting back to full fitness. The Scot will have a key role in keeping the mercurial Mo Salah quiet.

Arsenal Fever View:

Anfield has not been a happy hunting ground for the visitors in the last few seasons. Despite hanging in for most of the game, the Gunners tend to find a way to lose and that is what Arteta will be looking to avoid. He was the captain of the club the last time a victory was achieved on this ground back in the 2012/13 season.

There have been clear signs of progress shown by Arsenal in the last few weeks. But this is going to be the club’s biggest test since they played Manchester City.

If the north Londoners can pass this challenge with a draw or a win, it could act as a catalyst for the rest of the season. The fans and manager would do well to be a little cautious in their expectations, but it promises to be a fascinating game.
