Arsenal Team News against Leicester City: Kieran Tierney, Ben White

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal made it to the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup in midweek and will be beaming with confidence when they take on Leicester City, so let’s take a look at the team news.

Getting past Leeds United was not easy but a couple of second-half goals were enough for the north Londoners to emerge victorious on Tuesday. As they make the trip up north, Mikel Arteta will be happy with how they performed since the end of the international break. Are there any players that could miss out on this game?

The long-term absentee is Granit Xhaka who is nursing a knee injury at the moment. There are a few other players who are doubtful for Saturday. Ben White had to be substituted early in the second half against Leeds and Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the Englishman hasn’t trained yet.

Kieran Tierney has missed the last two matches with a bruised ankle, and a decision on the defender is expected to be taken before the game. If the Scot doesn’t make it, Nuno Tavares will be the one chosen to fill in for him.

Martin Odegaard is the other player who is still a doubt, but the Norwegian is back in training and is likely to be part of the squad this weekend.

Arsenal Fever View:

The Foxes under Brendan Rodgers have developed into one of the best teams in the League and they have some immensely talented players. With the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, Youri Tielemans among others, they are a real threat. If the visitors are not careful, they will end up on the losing side.

For the Gunners, it is about getting their wingers to beat the hosts’ wing-backs and look for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The more this happens, the easier it becomes for them to create goal-scoring opportunities.

After losing their first three games in the Premier League, Arsenal have done well to recover and are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions. If they can get a positive result at the King Power stadium, that would be a real statement of intent. It won’t be easy against a strong Leicester team but the north Londoners will be confident of their chances.
