Arsenal will be at the Emirates on Friday to welcome Ipswich Town as they look to add another three points to their title charge, so let’s look at the latest team news.
The Gunners got back to winning ways in the Premier League as they beat Crystal Palace 5-1 last weekend. Following that, they should have the confidence needed to get the better of the Tractor Boys.
As for the team news, there is one name that is going to dominate the news cycle for many weeks. Bukayo Saka suffered an injury against Palace and that has ruled him out for at least a couple of months. It is a big blow for the Gunners who are losing one of the best players in the world.
The other absentees will be Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu who will take some time to get ready. However, on the positive side Zinchenko could be available. Apart from this, there are no other injury issues for the hosts and Mikel Arteta would be scratching his head trying to rotate his squad during the busy festive period.
Arsenal Fever View:
There is no other option for the Gunners but to accumulate as many points as possible especially since Liverpool don’t look like they will be dropping any. So, games such as this become more important as there could be a tendency to become complacent.
We know that the hosts will create a lot of chances as they are sure to have more possession. If those openings are converted, then it could be a comfortable evening for the fans. A lot of that will depend on how the players are able to step up and replace the talisman that is Saka.
More emphasis will be placed on captain Martin Odegaard as he would be expected to chip in a few goals now. It is a test of Arteta and fans would be hoping that the manager can find a solution to losing his best player.
Arsenal will know that Ipswich are not the kind of team who will not put up a fight. Though an easy win is to be expected, it won’t be surprising if the visitors do pose some questions of the home defence.
