Arsenal Team News against Crystal Palace: Saliba, Tomiyasu

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal begin their final tilt towards the Premier League on Sunday as they get ready to welcome Crystal Palace in a tough London derby, so let’s take a look at the latest team news.

The Gunners would be looking to get a win against the Eagles to put their Europa League exit behind them. The players will be aware that they can go eight points ahead of Manchester City as teams head into the international break. That should be motivation enough to get the three points.

As for the injury updates, there are a few problems for Mikel Arteta to contend with. Both Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba had to be substituted on Thursday with injuries. While the former appeared to have a serious problem, there is more optimism surrounding Saliba.

Eddie Nketiah is still out with an injury but the north Londoners will be happy that Gabriel Jesus is back in the starting XI. The forward is slowly but surely getting back to being match fit and that is going to be crucial in the remaining few games.

Arsenal Fever View:

For Palace, this is the start of a new era as they have just sacked Patrick Vieira. Given the tendency of the league to give the new manager a positive result, the visitors would be feeling a lot more confident ahead of their trip.

The hosts need to ensure that they start strong and score as soon as possible. With Jesus pressing from the front, it should make the team play more cohesively. Palace do have the talent to hurt a defence, especially on the counter.

If the Gunners can get their wingers to attack the space between the full back and centre back, it will open up so many scoring chances. That is what Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli should look to do.

Arsenal know that every one is waiting for them to slip up so anything less than a win will not help their cause. Getting a win would widen the gap at the top to eight points and that does put more pressure on Manchester City. Keep that in mind and the hosts should be able to bounce back.
