Arsenal are in the race to sign Fulham super striker Moussa Dembele, according to the reports from ESPN FC.
Dembele has turned down a new deal at the Craven Cottage and his current contract is set to expire at the end of this month.
The 19-year-old has been a target for a number of Europe’s top clubs after netting 16 goals for the Cottage club last season. His proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur fell through at the last minute during the January transfer window.
The report further states that Chelsea have also been showing interest in Dembele’s service after sending an invitation to him to watch their clash against Manchester City in April.
Dembele’s performances have been so impressive last season and has drawn the attention of Liverpool, Juventus, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce who are also monitoring the situation and are weighing up moves.
However, the French youngster has recently expressed his intention to return to his formal club Paris Saint-Germain.
Manager Arsene Wenger is in the market to get some elite players ahead of next season, after reports as it that Danny Welbeck is said to miss the majority of next season.
The Gunners are still of hope that Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will agree on a move to the Emirates Stadium after the North Londoners triggered a release clause in his contract.
The North London club wouldn’t be able to give Dembele regular first-team football, as he’s not quite as matured as someone like Olivier Giroud.
Late in games, he could be introduced to have a go at tiring defences, but the teenager would likely be concerned at going from being a key man at Fulham to a bit-part player at the Emirates Stadium.
I personally think Dembele is not the man we need and Wenger should rather go for someone like Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard is a player who can easily fit into the Gunners first team and he has been so impressive in recent days after netted two for Spain in their debut against Turkey that finally end a 3-0 game.
However I have watched Dembele play and although he is not there yet, but this kid has lots of talent and he is available on the free, so it is worth a shot.
