Another day another Alexis Sanchez rumor, this time reports in Italy’s Tutto sport suggest that Turin giants Juventus are planning an audacious swoop for the Chilean involving a swap deal with Miralem Pjanic coming in the opposite direction.
The Turin-based newspaper claim that the Bianconeri are planning a stunning world class front three of Sanchez along with Higuain and Dybala to compete with the European biggies.
Sanchez has been seen as a coveted piece for his team by sporting director Giuseppe Marotta who is now willing to part with his Bosnian playmaker in an attempt to finally land the talismanic forward.
Pjanic arrived this summer in a €32m deal, has been a fine addition for the Turin-based club having scored 7 goals and 9 assists already in their bid to fifth successive Scudetto and has also created 36 chances in 22 outings.
Including a player of his caliber in an attempt to sweeten the blow for the Gunners highlights how desperately Juventus are trying to prize him away from the Emirates if the reports are to be believed.
Is the report to be believed ? is there any likelihood of this ever happening and if so, is it a blow for the North London club or is it actually not that bad a thing after all.
Let’s have a look at Pros and Cons of this deal
PROS :
Having already been previously linked with Pjanic, it is clear that the Gunners rate him ahighly and might actually see him as Santi’s potential heir given his age and recent injury hassles.
Pjanic can operate as a deep-lying midfielder pulling the strings from the base of the midfield or as an attacking No 10 creating chances for the strikers.
While having averaged a goal or assist every 131 minutes since arriving in Serie A he can also make defensive contributions quite aptly during a game.
He is one of those players who can produce that “something extra” during the game: the ability to produce deft clinical curlers from set pieces most notably freekicks. According to Squawka, he tops the Conversion rate of top free-kick scorers since 2012/13 charts with a 15% conversion rate something which we’ve never had at the emirates.
His wide range of passes, chance creation ratio, and sublime freekick skills make him quite a lethal option to have in the midfield. He can clearly impact a game from than one angle.
If he eventuality were to ever arrive, the Gunners will have to part ways with Alexis.
CONS :
There can only be one Alexis Sanchez.
He is simply not replaceable. Morata cannot replace him, Lukaku cannot replace him, Cavani cannot replace him. For me, even Costa or Aguero cannot replace him.
As prolific as he has been this season benefiting from playing up top rather than from the wings with 16 goals and 13 assists already, the spirit and tenacity that he brings to the field serves as an inspiration to his teammates. He is somebody who does not give up and simply does not tire.
He has an insatiable thirst for football and embodies a “Champions spirit” something you just can’t buy. Quite clearly he drives the team forward by refusing to give up and going the extra mile.
For me, he is our best chance at winning the Premier League.
VERDICT :
If we need Pjanic buy him, splash the cash next summer, make an offer they can’t refuse, but do not trade in Sanchez as he is simply too good to replace.
As good as Pjanic might be and he is no ALEXIS SANCHEZ, few can be so a swap deal makes no sense.
Tie him up to a very long deal along with his buddy Ozil and then buy Pjanic if need be. Till the next rumor and analysis
