Arsenal set deadline for Aubameyang to sign new deal, after forward pulls out of negotiations

Aubameyang

It has already been reported that Arsenal captain and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not willing to commit to a new contract owning to the club’s failure to challenge for silverware.

The 30-year-old forward enters the final year of his contract next summer and it seems the Gunners have made a decision on how to proceed if the player doesn’t commit to an extension.

According to reports in Daily Mail, the North London club have decided to give Aubameyang until the end of this season to get his future sorted out.

The idea is that if the club is unable to agree a deal with him, they will be looking to move him on and recoup as much as possible on the investment they made on him.

Aubameyang has been one of the best players for the Gunners ever since he moved in January 2018. His goal scoring ability and popularity off the pitch has made him one of the key members of the Arsenal squad.

This was also evidenced by the way in which he has been made captain of the Gunners. If Arsenal were to lose him, it will be a big blow but they must ensure that they get a hefty fee for him. Then, replacing him will not be as tough as it sounds.

The Emirates clunb need to play this one carefully as the striker is thinking of winding down his current deal. They must not get into a situation where they feel that their backs are against the wall.

If they decide to act first, it will be a show of strength and let the players know that they cannot be pushed around. Failure to do this, might result in a huge star leaving for free, the same way that Aaron Ramsey left for Juventus. Before all of that can be sorted out, the club needs to get back to winning ways otherwise, this season might end horribly.

A player like Aubameyang is the reason why Arsenal have at least gotten a few wins this season. Whether he stays or leaves, the best interests of the club must on the board’s mind. And in cases such as this, it is better to act fast and be decisive.
