Arsenal could be prepared to cash in on Spanish striker Lucas Perez just a year after his arrival from La Liga club Deportivo La Coruna.
The 28-year-old has had a bizarre spell with the north London giants with manager Arsene Wenger reluctant to offer him a regular run in the starting lineup.
Perez linked up with the Emirates outfit from Deportivo for £17.5m last summer with a view to competing with Olivier Giroud for the centre-forward position.
However, the transformation of Alexis Sanchez into the striker’s role has seen the Spaniard drop further down the pecking order to a point where he is behind both Giroud and the recently fit Danny Welbeck.
According to Goal.com, Perez is likely to push for a summer exit from the English capital after being restricted to just two league starts over the course of the season.
Perez had been expecting to clinch a regular position with the Gunners in order to better his chances of a Spanish call-up.
But, he is now in a far worse situation where he could miss out on a maiden cap as well as his dream of playing for La Roja in next year’s World Cup finals.
Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery is understood to be a huge admirer of Perez since his La Liga days with Sevilla, and he is prepared to step up Les Parisiens’ pursuit of the forward in the coming transfer window.
The Ligue 1 holders are hoping to add the Spanish marksman to their ranks this summer as they seek to find a suitable companion for Edinson Cavani upfront next term.
Despite his limited game-time, Perez has had his moments in the Gunners shirt, having netted an impressive hattrick in the 4-1 Champions League win over Basel late last year.
