Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze, with an agreement already in place, according to respected journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The Greenwich-born winger scored 34 goals and provided 23 assists in 147 Premier League appearances. In the last season, he netted eight goals and provided as many assists. Notably, he went on to taste success by lifting both the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
The report from The Athletic claims that the deal, worth around £68 million, has been pushed through by the Gunners, matching the bid from their archrivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Here is the tweet from David Ornstein:
“Arsenal reach agreement in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze. Deal worth around the expired £68m release clause – matching what #THFC were ready to pay. Personal terms close + 27yo plays for #CPFC on Thurs before #AFC medical @TheAthleticFC”
Sky Sports have further claimed that the north London club will pay a guaranteed £60m plus £7.5m in add-ons for the player, with personal terms now close to being totally agreed.
The 26-year-old is expected to feature one last time for the Eagles in their UEFA Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad before travelling for his medical in north London.
Arsenal Fever View:
Eze, signed by Palace for £19.5m from QPR in 2020, leaves as a fan favourite and one of the Premier League’s brightest attacking midfielders. Jamie Carragher recently lavished praise on Eze by labelling him a superstar for his flair and vision in the final third. Now, he is set to link up with Viktor Gyökeres at Arsenal, forming a potentially lethal partnership.
Mikel Arteta has been keen to bolster his attacking options following Kai Havertz’s injury, and with Eze’s arrival now imminent, Arsenal have added a player who combines creativity, flair, and proven Premier League quality.
The Gunners have been aggressive in the market, already sealing a deal for Noni Madueke from Chelsea, and manager Mikel Arteta has been desperate to add more creativity. With Kai Havertz sidelined by a knee injury, Arsenal accelerated their interest in Eze, beating Tottenham to his signature after late negotiations.
For weeks, Spurs fans dreamed of Eze lighting up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But when it mattered, Arsenal moved with intent. Andrea Berta and Tim Lewis stepped in, paid the price, and closed the deal.
Eze had options, and he chose Arsenal. That speaks volumes. He knows Arteta’s project, he knows the style, and he sees the chance to become a star on the biggest stage. Eze is unpredictable, fearless, and direct, exactly the kind of player who can break down stubborn defences when games get tight.
Palace fans may feel gutted to see the attacking midfielder packing up his bags in the coming days. But Eze’s journey is proof of his growth. From QPR to Palace to Arsenal, he has climbed every step with hard work and flair.
