Arsenal face one of their toughest challenges in the season on Sunday when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners are getting closer and closer to getting their hands on the Premier League and so, the tension among the fans is building. Given how the league leaders have done at Liverpool recently, there is not much to be excited about. Arteta will be hoping that the players are able to change the tide this weekend.
Aaron Ramsdale would be disappointed that he’s missed out on some clean sheets recently and would look to get one at a tough ground. As for the full backs, it is going to be the usual duo of Ben White and Alex Zinchenko.
There is a doubt over the availability of William Saliba and that is sure to affect how the north Londoners approach the game. The most likely outcome is that we will see Gabriel be partnered with Rob Holding.
In central midfield, the visitors will have the experience of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. The latter in particular might have to play a little deeper to ensure that there is enough protection for the defence against the might of the home attack.
Ahead of them, Arteta should bring back Bukayo Saka into the starting XI and put him on the right wing. With the pace of Gabriel Martinelli on the left and Martin Odegaard pulling the strings, this is the part of the pitch that can make a huge difference.
Up front, Arteta has a real decision to make over the selection of who starts centrally. Given that Gabriel Jesus is back, there is the temptation to go with the Brazilian over Leandro Trossard. We are more likely to see the former Manchester City man in action.
Arsenal know that they will be up against a hostile crowd and a team that is looking to salvage something from this season. So, it is not going to be easy getting the three points. If the visitors can handle the home press effectively and take their chances, they could return to London happy.
