Arsenal are back home to host Leeds United on Sunday as their hunt for the Champions League spots continues, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners did not have it easy last week but hung on to clinch a huge three points against the Hammers. That means that they are still two points ahead of Tottenham who travel to Liverpool on Saturday.
Aaron Ramsdale will be in goal, and it is good for the north Londoners that the Englishman seems to be back to his old self. And as for the full backs, it will once again be the duo of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Nuno Tavares.
Ben White wasn’t a part of the team at West Ham but he is expected to be back starting. The Englishman will be with his usual partner Gabriel as they look to keep the Leeds attackers at bay.
In midfield, Arteta has a choice to make between Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga. Given how well the Egyptian has performed, he may be chosen but Lokonga has a chance to start should the manager look to rest Elneny ahead of the north London derby. Whoever starts will play along with Granit Xhaka and the platform they set is crucial for the attackers ahead of them.
Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard will be two of the three that play behind the striker. The former had a great game against Leeds last time around and will be keen on doing well again. The Norwegian international with his ball retention and ability to find a pass is going to be crucial as well. Though Gabriel Martinelli started last week, this game should see Emile Smith Rowe get a chance.
Eddie Nketiah has been a revelation in the last few games and his presence in the middle gives the Arsenal attack an extra boost. The English forward has the pace and skill to trouble the visiting defence. The Gunners and Arteta will be aware that they can put themselves in a strong position by getting a win. Nothing less than the three points should be the objective for the north Londoners.
