Arsenal will be at home to take on Ipswich Town on Friday as they look to continue their charge towards the top of the Premier League table. What kind of team will Mikel Arteta select for this game?
The Gunners had one of their most comfortable wins last weekend as they beat Crystal Palace 5-1. And although Ipswich are at the bottom of the table, it will not be an easy game as they have players capable of making a mark.
David Raya will be in goal and the Spaniard would be keen to get back on track in terms of clean sheets. As for the full backs, it will be Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori. These two help provide natural width that makes the team more threatening.
William Saliba and Gabriel start as the centre backs and they would be expecting a more quiet evening than what they are normally used to. Their threat on set pieces will also be crucial as the north Londoners are sure to get opportunities on that end as well.
In midfield, Arteta has a straightforward choice, and that should see Thomas Partey, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard start. The three have usually combined well and their variety will provide some balance in the middle of the pitch.
Further forward, the Gunners have been dealt a hammer blow with the injury sustained by Bukayo Saka. That should see Gabriel Jesus start on the right wing and the Brazilian would be looking forward to adding more goals to his name. Gabriel Martinelli should be the one starting on the left.
For the centre forward, the manager is more likely to go with Kai Havertz due to the physical presence that the German offers. And if needed, Leandro Trossard can be brought on from the bench to add his special set of skills.
Arsenal should get easy three points but as we all know, this league is capable of throwing up surprises every now and then. So, it is understandable if Arteta approaches this game with a little caution especially given how many matches will have to be played in a short span of time.
