Arsenal get back to the challenge of the Premier League as they welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. What kind of team will Mikel Arteta select for this game?
The Gunners had a comfortable game against Monaco in the Champions League as they were able to win 3-0. That has put them in a great position in the table and will be a source of confidence ahead of the visiting Toffees.
In goal, David Raya will continue to chase yet another clean sheet but it won’t be easy against an extremely physical side. As for the full backs, there is a lot to think about for Arteta given the doubts over the availability of Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel.
It is likely that the manager would stick with playing Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly as the full backs. As for the centre of the defence, it is going to be William Saliba on one side and if Gabriel is fit, it will be the Brazilian or else Jakub Kiwior should get another start.
This will see Thomas Partey move into the midfield where he is at his most comfortable. Having the Ghana international at the base of the central trio, it gives the north Londoners a chance to play Declan Rice further forward. These two along with Martin Odegaard are a great combination of different skill sets.
On the wings, Bukayo Saka is certain to start on the right and we could very well see Leandro Trossard given a chance on the left. Gabriel Martinelli will drop back to the bench and the hope would be that the Belgian can find the back of the net.
Kai Havertz started the midweek game on the bench but should he himself back in the starting XI. The German notched a personal milestone as he got his 10th goal of the season on Wednesday. Arteta would hope that he can be among the goals once again.
Arsenal need to keep winning if they are to have any hope of catching up with Liverpool. The Reds have proven to be almost faultless in the league so far and each result counts in the hunt for the title. Given their recent home, the fans would be hoping that the hosts will get the three points.
