Arsenal return to London for their third Premier League match of the season as they face Brighton and Hove Albion, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners had a nervy game at Villa Park but were eventually able to get the better of Aston Villa and emerge victorious. That would have given them a lot of confidence ahead of facing a team that is as exciting as Brighton.
In goal, David Raya will look to have a slightly more relaxed afternoon after producing a spectacular performance last week. It was the Spaniard that ensured that the north Londoners did not fall behind.
As for the full backs, it is likely to be the pair of Ben White and Jurrien Timber once again given the solidity they offer. In the middle, it will be the usual duo of William Saliba and Gabriel looking to repel any threat that comes the hosts’ way.
The midfield three that took to Villa Park will be the same on to start on Saturday with new signing Mikel Merino suffering a injury setback.
This should see Thomas Partey along with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. These three have enough between to destabilise the visiting defence. Partey and Rice in particular have to be careful about the Brighton attackers on the counter.
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli should start as the wingers with the Englishman looking to continue his fine form. As for the Brazilian, he has Leandro Trossard breathing down his neck so, he needs to step up and how just how talented he really is.
With Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz will be the one to lead the line and the German should have a lot of chances to get his name on the scoresheet. If he can be a little clinical the Gunners will go into the international break a much happier team.
Arsenal have found Brighton a little tricky in the past but that needs to be put aside as Arteta would want his team to continue their title challenge. There is no room for error given just how fierce the competition has gotten.
