Arsenal are reportedly looking to pursue the services of Real Madrid pair Danilo and Karim Benzema during this summer’s transfer window.
The Gunners are due to spend big at the end of the season with a host of key players approaching the final year of their contracts.
Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are among those, who face an uncertain future beyond the summer while the likes of Hector Bellerin and Olivier Giroud could also leave, should they receive suitable offers.
According to The Star, via Don Balon, the north London club are lining up a double swoop on the European champions with Danilo and Benzema on their shortlist.
Danilo has played second fiddle to Dani Carvajal since his switch from Porto in 2015, and the Gunners regard him as a potential replacement for Bellerin, who could be off to Barcelona in the summer.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is willing to part with a £17.1m sum for the full-back which is less than the £27.1m(€31.5m) Madrid paid to Porto back in 2015.
Meanwhile, long-time target Karim Benzema is also being linked with a switch to north London with the club unsure over the future of front duo Sanchez and Giroud.
Sanchez has amassed 28 goals and 15 assists for his club this term, but his future appears bleak beyond the summer with the Gunners reluctant to match his wage demands.
On the other hand, Giroud has managed 16 goals for the season despite his restricted playing time, and he could be assessing his options, should Wenger decide against an extension next term.
Arsene Wenger has guided Arsenal to a top-four finish in each of his last 20 seasons, but it appears that he will fall short this term with the club hugely dependent on Liverpool’s result on the final day of the season.
Arsenal will have to earn all three points against Everton on Sunday while hoping that Liverpool stutter versus relegated Middlesbrough in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
