Arsenal offered chance to complete signing of £58million striker in swap deal for Aubameyang

Aubameyang

In transfer news regarding Arsenal, it appears that Real Madrid are interested in bringing in Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Bernabeu.

As per journalist Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast, the reluctance of the Gabonese striker in signing a new contract with Arsenal has led to the interest from Real Madrid.

And to make the deal a little sweeter for the North London side, they are willing to offer newly signed striker Luka Jovic as well. The Spanish side is hoping that this will be enough to make the Gunners decide to part ways with Aubameyang.

Metro are claiming that Real Madrid will come in January and try to snatch Aubameyang away from the Premier League. Aubameyang has been hugely impressive ever since he moved from Germany where he was playing for Borussia Dortmund. He is the top scorer this season for the Gunners and he was also made captain as he replaced Granit Xhaka.

The striker also finished last season as the joint winner of the Premier League Golden Boot,  an award that he shared with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah. But despite him playing very well, this season has not gone according to plan for the Gunners and that even saw the departure of Unai Emery. They are currently eight games without a win which is their worst run of form in many decades.

Aubameyang’s contract finishes in the summer of 2021 so it is important for the club to be proactive in handling his future. And if Real were willing to offer Jovic as well, that would sweeten the deal and perhaps convince the Gunners to part ways with their star striker.

Jovic was a phenomenal success during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt but his career in Spain has not taken off the way he would have liked it to. Arsenal will be getting one of the most promising strikers in the world and it would go a long way in offsetting the loss of a player like Aubameyang.

Arsenal need to keep the best interests of the club in mind before making a decision. It will not be a popular move among fans if Aubameyang did leave but they will be somewhat happy in the knowledge that a player like Jovic will be joining them.
