Granit Xhaka believes that Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli possesses the quality to become one of the best players in the world.
The Gunners cemented their spot at the top of the Premier League table with a comprehensive 3-1 win over 10-man Spurs in the north London derby. The home team dominated the proceedings right from the get-go and deserved all three points.
Martinelli joined Arsenal in 2019 when he was just 18 years old. Since then, his development at the club has been exponential. He has already netted three goals so far this campaign.
The youngster produced another scintillating performance on Saturday. He caused the Spurs’ defense problems all afternoon with his pace and skills. He was unlucky not to have added to his goal tally, but he claimed an assist for Xhaka’s goal.
The 21-year-old was also at the receiving end of a nasty challenge from Emerson Royal that resulted in the sending-off. Granit Xhaka has been impressed with Martinelli’s performances and has tipped him to reach the very top if he continues to work hard. He told BBC Sport(per Yahoo):
“Gabriel Martinelli has a lot to be one of the best. He goes 100 miles per hour.” said the Swiss midfielder.
“He has to push himself with how far he can go. He has the team and everything around to help him.”
Arsenal Fever View:
The Brazilian has proved to become Mikel Arteta’s go-to man on the left flank. He has pretty much cemented his spot with some impressive displays.
Apart from his attacking prowess, Martinelli is also a very capable defender who is not shy to track back and help out the fullbacks. He is still only 21 and can get only better as the season progresses. The north Londoners have got an absolute gem in their ranks.
Meanwhile, the victory keeps Arsenal at the top of the league for another week. They will now turn their attention to the Europa League where they face Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night.
