Premier League giants Arsenal look to have already identified their targets ahead of this summer’s transfer window. The Gunners scouts kept a close watch on Napoli duo Lorenzo Insigne and Faouzi Ghoulam over the weekend.
Arsene Wenger’s side have once again flopped in their quest for the long-awaited league title, and a top-four position would be the least acceptable in order to attract the top talents from Europe and beyond.
According to reports in the SUN, the north London club have begun their search for potential recruits with both Insigne and Ghoulam emerging as summer targets.
Insigne, who is valued at £44million is said to be in a contract standoff with the Naples outfit, and his situation has attracted interest from both the Gunners and rivals Liverpool.
The Napoli graduate is well known for his electrifying pace and shooting capabilities, and he could be seen as a suitable replacement for Alexis Sanchez, whose future is yet to resolved.
Alexis has shown no signs of extending his stay beyond 2018, and it is suggested that his long-term commitment would be dependent on Wenger’s future at the club.
The Chilean has already netted 20 goals across all competitions for the Gunners, and he will not be short of suitors, should the Gunners decide to cash in on his services in the summer.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are said to also keep a keen eye on Ghoulam, who is out-of-contract at the end of the current campaign.
The Algeria international has the ability to play across the defence as well as midfield, and his versatility has also impressed London rivals Chelsea.
In spite of this, Arsenal should be hopeful of luring the player on a free transfer as both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs have been shaky in the left-back position this term.
Arsenal are currently fourth in the standings with a game in hand over Southampton, but they will still have to be weary of the chasing pack with both Liverpool and Manchester United desperate to clinch the final Champions League place.
