It seems a striker is Arsene Wenger’s main focus this summer after the club completed the signing of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.
It was reported earlier this month that Arsenal triggered the release clause in Jamie Vardy’s Leicester contract but the forward seems unlikely to join the Gunners and Wenger is now looking for other opinions.
As a move for Vardy remains uncertain, Arsenal boss is planning to move for Paris-Saint-German striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports in the Express.
Personally, I don’t see Cavani moving to the Emirates, as it will not be wise of Paris-Saint-German to allow both Cavani and Ibrahimović leave this summer.
The 29-year-old ace has a good scoring record in France, as he bagged 25 goals in 52 appearances, but Ibrahimovic has always overshadowed him at the French club.
The Uruguayan international has turned down a big-money move to China in order to move to the Premier League instead, according to the reports from the Express.
Following his performance against the North London club in the Champions League proves that he could easily fit into Arsenal’s starting eleven.
When the 29-year-old star moved to the French capital from Napoli in 2013, he was one of Europe’s hottest strikers until he was pushed into the background with PSG to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was the club’s main striker.
One striker who is capable of improving the Gunners’ attack would be Cavani. His pace, clever movement, brilliant technique and better-quality finishing would make him the perfect foil for Ozil’s vision in the final third.
The Gunners are in desperate need of an elite striker after it was reported that they would be without Danny Welbeck who will be out for about 9 months due to injuries.
Oliver Giroud as always being inconsistent ever since he arrived at the Emirates stadium, Wenger will have to go get another striker if he really wants to challenge for the title next term.
Vardy has good finishing skill that the Gunners are presently lacking, he would have been a good signing for the North London club, and given Arsenal haven’t had a striker that likes to run behind for a long time.
Overall, I don’t like the idea of Arsenal want to sign a player like Cavani and Vardy who are already are already ageing as I would rather prefer if we go for strikers like Alvaro Morata who are much more younger.
