Arsenal interested in Thilo Kehrer as a possible Ben White alternative

Thilo Kehrer

As per a report from Foot Mercato (via Express), Arsenal are considering Thilo Kehrer of PSG as an alternative to Ben White.

The 24-year-old has become a dependable player for Paris Saint-Germain ever since moving there in 2018. His versatility has been a major highlight of his stay in France and helped establish the defender.

The report in Foot Mercato claims that Kehrer’s playing time will be drastically reduced in the aftermath of Sergio Ramos’ move to the French club. And if an offer that is deemed to be fair were to arrive, PSG will look to sell the centre back.

It further states that the Gunners have made their interest in the German known but PSG are yet to respond. The north London club made an enquiry but with two years left in the 24-year-old’s contract, the Parisians are under no pressure to sell.

The potential signing of Kehrer is one that makes a lot of sense for the north Londoners as he is similar to White in many ways. The German like his English counterpart can play in the centre of defence, as a right-back and can slot into midfield if required.

With the defender valued at around £22million, the Gunners would pay less than what is being quoted for the Brighton And Hove Albion man. With the conclusion of Euros, we will get more clarity about what the club wants to do and a conclusion to Ben White transfer saga can also be expected.

It is clear that the north Londoners are looking to bring in a young defender that can play multiple positions. And based on the profile of players they are looking at, it appears that they want a specific kind of talent.

Whether Arsenal end up with White or Kehrer, it will represent some good business. Regardless of who ends up at the Emirates, it is good to note that the club are actively pursuing moves this transfer window.
