Arsenal in talks with Fenerbahce to sell Sead Kolasinac

Sead Kolasinac

Arsenal are in talks with Turkish club Fenerbahce over a move for Sead Kolasinac, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Bosnian arrived in the summer of 2017 on a free transfer after his spell in Germany had ended. Since the signing of Kieran Tierney, the left-back has become a backup which saw him spend the second half of last season on loan with Schalke.

According to Romano, Kolasinac is among the players who is set to leave as the Italian tweeted:

“Talks ongoing between Arsenal and Fenerbahçe for Sead Kolasinac are confirmed, as per @yagosabuncuoglu. The two clubs are in contact, but the agreement is not completed/signed yet. Kolasinac is among players set to leave Arsenal with Torreira, Willian, Bellerin.”

This move was also confirmed by Chris Wheatley who tweeted:

“Arsenal & Fener have been in talks, personal terms agreed with Kola & Turkish side. Expected that #AFC will receive a nominal fee – but crucially getting huge salary off the books.”

Arsenal Fever View

After signing five players so far this summer, it was important for the Gunners to let go of some of their own. If the squad is too big, it will not allow them to bring in any more talent. The sale of Kolasinac should hopefully get the ball rolling and let the club get some wages off its books.

After the arrival of Nuno Tavares, it was clear that the Bosnian defender was not in the plans of Mikel Arteta. It would have been difficult for him to get any chances and a move away makes much more sense.

For the north Londoners to rebuild their team, they have to be ruthless in getting rid of certain players. Otherwise, it will hinder their ability to restructure the squad. It is good to see the club take these measures and focus on streamlining the players at the Emirates.

With just a few more days left in the transfer window, Arsenal will look to sell as many players as they can. Kolasinac could be the first of many to make their way out of north London and this is a good sign for the future.
