Arsenal in talks with agent of £55m rated German attacker

The Mirror reported earlier today that the Gunners are showing a keen interest in signing the 22-year-old Julian Draxler for a deal worth £55m.

Julian Draxler is keen to join Arsenal this summer after manager Arsene Wenger held talks with the German attacker’s agent, over a possible switch to the Emirates Stadium, according to the reports from Daily Star.

Draxler has long been linked with a move to the Emirates since his time at Schalke, but the Gunners failed to push for a deal. It was Wolfsburg who eventually signed him a deal worth £25m last summer.

However, recent reports suggest that Wenger has made the German international his main target this summer.

The Mirror reported earlier today that the Gunners are showing a keen interest in signing the 22-year-old Julian Draxler who is rated £55m by Wolfsburg.

The French manager admitted he’s a big fan of Draxler while working in France during the Euro 2016 as a pundit.

The report by the Daily Star has cited Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli as the source for this news. Giulianelli has further stated that the German workaholic attacker is keen on joining the Gunners but no official bid has been made.

Daily Star claimed the Giulianelli is quoted that:

“Draxler’s agent has been in contact with Wenger though.

“No official bid by Arsenal just yet.”

“Draxler would be very keen on the move: he tried to go to Arsenal for the past 2 years.”

The Italian journalist has some good history when it comes to transfer rumours as he was one of the first to dispense the Granit Xhaka move, but he also reported some other news in recent weeks

I think the Draxler story is believable as we all know Wenger is a fan of the German international, and he is on the lookout for a new attacker (preferably an orthodox striker) this summer for his team ahead of next season.

Draxler is a talented attacker who can play anywhere in the attacking positions. He can play as a forward, a winger, a false 9 and a high-flying play-maker. He was arguably one of Germany’s star players, filling in for his compatriot Marco Reus, also a versatile attacker.

He could give Wenger plenty of options up front, and serve as a perfect replacement for Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who have both been linked with a move away from the Emirates.

The reported £50m price-tag could be a problem as it is not certain Wenger will want to meet such release clause in Draxler’s current contract at Wolfsburg. Whether he is brought on board, only time will tell. Do you think Draxler would make a good signing for Arsenal?
