Arsenal in perfect financial position to sign Alvaro Morata this summer

Alvaro Morata

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal would be able to meet the financial requirements to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old joined the Turin club from Atletico Madrid on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy. In 92 appearances for the club, he has scored 32 goals and registered over 20 assists.

As per reports in Calciomercato, Juventus are willing to sign the striker on a permanent deal but only at a discounted price. Although the Spanish club are ready to offload him in the summer, they are not likely to compromise on the price tag.

The Italian publication also claims that the Gunners are interested in signing the Spaniard. They are said to be able to meet the financial requirements to secure his signature.

However, the player himself is not very keen on a switch to the English capital. The report states that the striker ‘does not welcome’ a move to the Emirates due to his unimpressive stint with their London Rivals Chelsea back in 2019.

Arsenal Fever View:

With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s contracts expiring in the summer, the north Londoners desperately need to reinforce their striking department. The club have been linked with a move for a striker this transfer window, with the latest player being Morata.

The 29-year-old brings a wealth of experience with him. He is already accustomed to the Premier League and would be able to hit the ground running immediately. But the Spaniard shouldn’t be the only striker they recruit in the summer.

Arsenal are in need of a striker who is ruthless in front of goal. Also considering their recent strategy of recruiting young players, it is unlikely that Morata would fit the bill.

As it stands, the Gunners will be without a striker at the start of the next campaign. Hence it is vital that they ramp up their pursuit. Having the Juventus star as a backup striker would be a viable option. Arsenal are in the midst of a rebuild, and splashing the cash on a player like Morata is not a sensible move.
