Arsenal have had a poor start to the season but Mikel Arteta still retains a lot of faith among the club’s board, as per the Independent.
After a disappointing pre-season, the Gunners have not been able to pick themselves up and lost to both Brentford and Chelsea. With an EFL Cup game against West Bromwich Albion on the horizon, the spotlight is firmly on the boss who has to deliver.
According to the report, despite the mood inside the club changing after the recent run of results, Arteta’s job is not under any immediate threat. The Spaniard is said to exert a lot of control over the north Londoners in a way similar to the reign of Arsene Wenger.
This was not received well by the Gunners fans who are frustrated with the direction of the club under the current regime. They took to Twitter to showcase some of their shock and displeasure. Here are some of the best reactions:
This should tell you how pathetic arsenal is atm

Arteta cannot motivate a team or manage players or manage a football club. Arteta’s reputation is built on the back of Pep Guardiola.
The Arsenal Board’s appointment of Arteta is further evidence of a meltdown and ongoing and asset stripping at Arsenal Football Club 🙁

The problem is not injuries. It’s his playstyle and tactics. Cross and hope for the best.

Nonsense. Arsene had that control because he achieved the clubs aims, Arteta is a massive failure & only results save him.

Probably why the club is in such a mess right now no one man should be given the run of a football club it’s to much work for one person.

Arsenal Fever View:
Though the manager holds a highly regarded position among the club’s hierarchy, the Spaniard is on a slippery slope. If Arteta is not able to turn the tide soon, it will end with the boss losing his job. The next five games are crucial to the future of the manager and continued performances like the one on Sunday will surely turn up the pressure.
What has been disheartening is that the team seems to have no identity anymore. There is no clear style of play and on many occasions, it feels like the players are not fully understanding what their role is. This was evident in the defeat to Chelsea where the organisation and coordination were all over the place.
Even if the boss manages to win over the board, it will take nothing short of a miracle for the fans to warm up to him again. It is important to get as many wins as possible. With matches against Manchester City and Tottenham coming up, it does not get any easier.
Arsenal might wait a little longer before they make a decision on the future of Mikel Arteta. He has been given a lot of control by the board and it is time for him to repay the faith. It will not be easy but his job depends on it.
