Arsenal have confirmed that Jack Wilshere has been training at the club and many fans are delighted to welcome the former midfielder back to north London.
He is a product of the Hale End academy, ultimately becoming the Gunners’ youngest ever debutant at the age of 16. He has gone on to make 198 appearances for the club before joining West Ham in 2018.
The 29-year-old later joined Bournemouth on a short-term deal and was released this summer. Since then, he has struggled to find a new club. He spent a brief time training with Serie B side Como, but could not sign for the team due to issues regarding the registering of non-EU players.
Mikel Arteta has revealed that Wilshere will occasionally join the first team for training. He also plans to get his vast experience across to the younger players and the academy graduates.
The primary objective of this deal is to keep him physically and mentally fit while the midfielder plots his plans for the future. While speaking on Arsenal’s official website, Arteta said:
“He is going to be training sometimes with us, he is going to be around the place, he is going to be continuing his coaching badges that he is very interested in, try to get him fit, try to get his experiences across to our players, our young players, our academy and I think it is a great influence to have around.
“He wants to do his coaching badges again and we are prepared to fulfill all the needs that he wants. That is basically the idea and it is no further than that.”
Many Arsenal fans seem to agree with the club’s decision to help Wilshere train in their facilities. They were quick to express their delight on Twitter and here are some of the best reactions:

Arsenal Fever View:
The Englishman was touted to become one of the greater ever players for his club and country. He is one of the best players ever to come out of the Gunners academy but injuries have ravaged his career. He has been struggling to keep himself fit, and injuries still continue to haunt him.
It is unlikely that Wilshere will be offered a contract, but having him around the club will help in the development of youngsters. Perhaps he could be offered a coaching role in the club based on his progress with the coaching badges. Nevertheless, this is an incredible gesture from the north Londoners.
Meanwhile, the Gunners head into the international break sitting eleventh in the Premier League table, having won ten points from their previous four games. Arteta will be determined to continue the team’s fine run as they look to secure the coveted top-four spot this season.
