Arsenal fans react as Jack Wilshere speaks out on Arteta’s invitation

Jack Wilshere

Arsenal fans have reacted to comments from Jack Wilshere after Mikel Arteta claimed the club’s doors are always open for the Englishman.

The 29-year-old rose through the ranks at the north London club, making his competitive debut in 2008. Since then the midfielder has amassed 198 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals and registering 30 assists in the process.

Wilshere signed for West Ham United in 2018. After spending three years there, he joined Bournemouth on a short-term deal in January 2021. However, he was released by the Cherries at the end of the season and is currently without a club.

Mikel Arteta appeared to be open to the idea of his former teammate returning to the club to train. During the pre-match press conference ahead of the Norwich game, the Spaniard said:

“[Wilshere is] Someone that I know, that I shared dressing rooms with and is so loved by everyone here. Our doors are always open.”

Wilshere seems to have accepted this offer. Speaking to Sky Sports, he admitted this opportunity could help him get his career back on track. The Englishman further added that he would make contact with the club over the next few days to explore this possibility. He said:

“It can only help me. Being around good players, training with world-class players, and as well just being in a team environment is something I’m interested in. I’m sure that I’ll have a conversation with someone at the club over the next couple of days.”

Fans have been ecstatic after hearing Wilshere’s comments and took to Twitter to express their joy. These are some of the best reactions:

Arsenal Fever View:

The Hale Ender is the club’s youngest-ever league debutant. He was touted for greatness for his club and country. However, injuries have ruined his career. Fans completely adored him during his time at the club, but they shouldn’t be under the illusion that he still possesses the ability to dominate the midfield as he used to do a decade ago.

Letting Wilshere train at Arsenal and having him around the club will help in the development of youngsters. Perhaps he could be offered a short-term contract based on his progress in the training field.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have finally scored a goal and secured their first league win of the season. They have moved to 16th on the Premier League table and will hope to climb further with a victory on Saturday as they take Burnley at Turf Moor.
