Arsenal are seriously considering a move for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, as per reports in Sheffield Star but the Gunners fans are not too happy with the speculation.
The 23-year-old has endured back-to-back relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United, but the youngster has been a solid presence in goal.
Following a productive season with the Blades, the goalkeeper was rewarded with a call-up to the England national squad for the Euro 2020 after Dean Henderson was withdrawn from the competition.
The Sheffield Star claim that the north London club are ready to make a move for Ramsdale this summer, with technical director Edu preparing an offer for the Englishman.
The report further claims that the Gunners’ planned bid is unlikely to be accepted by the relegated side who value their keeper at around £40 million, having spent around £19 million just a year ago.
Edu reportedly believes that the offer will be considered by the Championship side, following their relegation from the Premier League and a deal can be done in the near future.

It’s not even a sideways step…. It’s a downgrade

He’s not even an upgrade on Ryan. Nowhere near. He doesn’t have a single above average attribute

Calling Ramsdale a sideways step is astonishingly generous

Ramsdale is not a sideways step… he’s two steps back ffs

Aside from all of that, if you are Ramsdale why would you go from no:1 somewhere to playing second fiddle at mid-table Arsenal?

Arsenal Fever View:
Aaron Ramsdale could be a good backup for Arsenal, with Matt Ryan returning to Brighton & Hove Albion after his short loan stint. However, with Bernd Leno also linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium, considering the 23-year-old as a replacement for the German will be a risky move.
The young keeper is a very good shot-stopper and has an average of 69% saving percentage over the last two seasons. However, he lacks the necessary qualities with his feet which is extremely essential to perform in Mikel Arteta’s system.
The north London club are also linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana. Weighing up a move for the Cameroonian would be a better option to replace Leno. However, given the 25-year-old’s suspension until November, it will be necessary to bring someone in and Ramsdale could fill that void until then. So, a one-year loan spell with an option to buy seems to be a better deal.
