Arsenal fans react as Aubameyang and Lacazette are put up for sale

Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal are reportedly set for a transfer overhaul this summer as they are looking to offload Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, as per Spanish publication AS.

The two forwards missed the opening game against Brentford and could be unavailable for the London derby when Chelsea come visiting this week. This has led to some speculation that the duo could be on the move.

According to AS, Aubameyang and Lacazette have been put up for sale as Mikel Arteta has lost faith in his striking duo. And to replace them, the Gunners are looking towards Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Serie A Champions have just sold Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea and could lose the Argentine star as well. The report states that the north Londoners are willing to offer the forward a salary of €17m a season.

The logic behind these moves seems a bit flawed considering that Aubameyang only signed an extension last season. As for Lacazette, he only has one year left on his contract and could leave for free next year.

This has caused the fans to react furiously and their resentment levels are already high due to the club’s poor planning both on and off the field. They showed their unhappiness on Twitter and here are some of the best reactions:

If both the senior forwards are sold this summer, it would be proof of some incredibly poor planning from the Gunners. With results taking a dip, the pressure on Arteta is increasing with each passing day. And selling two of the club’s best players could prove to be catastrophic.

The only bright point of this potential transfer saga is the player that is being targeted as a replacement. Martinez is one of the best young strikers in the world and would give the north Londoners a huge boost in the attacking department.

Whatever decision Arsenal take with regards to their star duo, they have to take it quickly. There is not much time left in the transfer window and this upcoming fortnight will have a huge impact on their season.
