Arsenal returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 win over Southampton and it has helped keep them in the fight for Champions League football and of the stars of the game was Martin Odegaard who notched his third goal in as many games.
After losing to both Manchester United and Everton in the space of a few days, it was important for the Gunners to get their mojo back. Though they had a slightly shaky start at the Emirates, the hosts were able to control the game till the end.
Alexandre Lacazette gave the north Londoners the lead, producing a wonderful finish to cap off a great team move and Odegaard was on hand to head home a pass from Kieran Tierney to double the score.
Mikel Arteta would have been happy with how his Norwegian playmaker has played in the last few games. The 22-year-old is taking more responsibility on the ball and is willing to join in the attack.
Arsenal fans were full of praise for the goal scorer, and they took to Twitter to shower some love on Odegaard. Here are some of the best reactions:
Odegaard can’t stop scoring, 3 goals in 3 games, what a player we got, i really hope he can regain this form 💪

Martin Odegaard is growing into Arsenal game. The way he uses through balls is something we haven’t seen since Cazorla or Ozil. He keeps on trying and trying. Really happy with his performance #afc

Arsenal Fever View:
The Saints did make it difficult in the opening 15 minutes or so with their intense pressing not allowing the Gunners to settle in. But to their credit, they rode that rough spell out by relying on their instincts and willingness to play out from the back. The Norway captain was instrumental in doing this as his ability to receive the ball under pressure and distribute it was extremely helpful.
There were a few other performances that would have made the manager happy and the mood around the stadium looked to be much better than it did before kick-off. With West Ham United set to visit on Wednesday, it gives the north Londoners another chance to stake their claim for fourth place.
If Arsenal are to sustain a challenge for the Champions League, it needs the contribution of players such as Odegaard. When the goals get shared around, it allows the team to play with a lot more fluidity. Now, both the player and the fans will be hoping for another win during the week.
