As per French outlet L’Equipe(via Metro), Arsenal are one of many clubs interested in signing Portugal international Renato Sanches.
After a few seasons of inconsistent performances, the 23-year-old has found his feet at Lille. Part of the impressive team that ended up winning Ligue 1, the midfielder also went on to impress at the Euros.
The news of the Gunners being linked with Sanches sent the fans into a tizzy. This was taken to another level when a screenshot of the player’s like on Twitter surfaced. The Portuguese had liked a tweet of former teammate and current Arsenal defender Gabriel which said:

The ‘like’ probably doesn’t mean anything as the players are pretty close to each other and it might have been just a random click. However, that didn’t stop the fans from getting excited over a possible move. Here are some of the best tweets:

If the north Londoners manage to pull off this signing, it would be quite a coup. The youngster has matured after a move to Bayern Munich did not work out very well. This included a loan spell in the Premier League with Swansea City which did not do the midfielder any favours. But ever since moving into the heart of Lille’s midfield, the 23-year-old has transformed himself.
With reports hinting that the French club would have to sell one of Sanches or Xeka, this is a good chance for the Emirates club to bring him to London. The thought of the former Bayern man playing alongside Thomas Partey is a fascinating prospect.
Both have similarities to their game, and it would require the Portugal international to temper his offensive instincts a little. But the youngster is a gem of a player and one that can become even better.
It is not clear how much Lille would ask if they are to sell their young star. And after his stellar performances at the Euros, that fee is only bound to go up. With Granit Xhaka moving closer to a departure, now would be the time for the north Londoners to act. Sanches is an excellent midfielder and Arsenal would be making the right decision if they decide to bring the player to the Emirates.
