Reports keep coming that Arsenal are showing heavy interest in signing young Napoli talent Piotr Zielinski, according to reports in Italian outlet tuttomercatoweb.
The Polish midfielder plays as a tenacious player who’s aggressive style of play would fit perfectly in Arsenal’s midfield that is otherwise known for a lack of strength.
The 23-year-old has quickly made a name for himself at Napoli, scoring 9 goals and assisting 3 times during his time at the club, alongside some impressive defensive displays.
The report further states that the North London club are ready to trigger the £57m release clause in his contract. Supposedly Napoli are keen to hold on to the young talent and will be offering him a new long-term contract shortly. Only time will tell which option he chooses.
After rising up through the international youth teams starting with the Under-15s, he made his international debut in 2013 and has played 31 games for Poland. He has become a regular for the country’s midfield.
Aaron Ramsey has had a brilliant season with over 20 goals created this season. Zielinski would most likely play alongside Ramsey as a supporting player. This would bolster the midfield moving forward, giving Arsenal the strength needed to play fast, attacking football.
Granit Xhaka has been struggling since joining Arsenal and may need the extra support in midfield. In many circumstances, it can be seen that Xhaka is playing as a sole defensive midfielder and there is often a huge amount of pressure on the player. Having another midfielder who is strong in both defence and attack would surely help Xhaka’s plays.
There is a lot of speculation now, but Arsene Wenger is renowned for bringing in young talent, so at the end of his tenure as a manager it would not be surprising for him to help bring in a bright young spark like Zielinski to help Arsenal regain the success that we’ve seen in past years.
