Arsenal ‘confident’ Raul Sanllehi will push through £89m deal for 25-year-old star

Former Barcelona executive Raul Sanllehi is reportedly working with Arsenal in order to push through a move for Petr Cech’s replacement in the summer.

Cech, 35, has been prone to a couple of individual mistakes this term, and it appears that Arsene Wenger has lined up a suitable replacement with David Ospina not exhibiting much confidence either between the sticks.

According to Sport, Sanllehi has linked up with the north London side, and his prime objective is to lure Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak to the Emirates despite the impending interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 leaders splashed the cash to sign world-class talents earlier in the summer, but Arsene Wenger’s side remain confident of striking a deal for Oblak with Sanllehi now on their side.

The 25-year-old, who joined Atleti from Benfica in the summer of 2014, presently has a £89m release clause in his contract.

It is widely suggested that the Spanish side would be reluctant to accept anything less for their recruit.

With the attack seemingly strengthened, the focus is likely to be on the defensive side of the team in the summer, and finding a potential replacement for the ageing-Cech has been underlined as the prime target.

Despite this, Sport suggests that the club are also lining up a move for Bordeaux’s Malcom after being regularly associated with his signature during the course of the 2018 winter transfer window.

Malcom eventually stayed put at Les Girondins under the assurance offered to new boss Guy Poyet, but he still has the ambition of plying his trade for a top club in Europe next season, as per Telefoot.
