Arsenal travel to Germany for the 2nd leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich looking to seal a berth in the semi-final, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners suffered one of their most disappointing defeats in the league as they succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa. That has caused a significant difference in their quest for domestic glory, but they can make things right in Europe.
David Raya will continue to be in goal and would be expecting a busy day given the quality Bayern have. Ben White will start as the right back and Arteta has to choose between Jakub Kiwior and Alex Zinchenko for the left-hand side. He is likely to go with the Ukrainian due to his superior ability on the ball.
William Saliba and Gabriel in the middle will provide a lot of protection for the north Londoners but against a tough attack, they will have their work cut out. The latter in particular has done well over the years to keep Harry Kane quiet and that will be needed again.
Jorginho is very likely to start this game as the passing ability of the Italian is needed to break down the hosts’ defence. Declan Rice playing in a more advanced role would want to influence the game more. Martin Odegaard will have a lot of attention on him, but the captain is more than capable of showing his qualities both on and off the ball.
Gabriel Martinelli was on the bench against Villa but should be starting this game as his pace is crucial to creating chances in transition. Bukayo Saka despite not being 100% will start on the other wing.
Gabriel Jesus could very well be the central forward and the Brazilian showed exactly what makes him a threat last time around. His skills and intelligence in and around the box are needed to break down the home defence.
Arsenal have a lot to prove not just to themselves but to the rest of Europe as well. If they can somehow get the better of Bayern, it will show that they are back among the big boys and are capable of big things.
