Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday in what is going to be a very tough game against Fulham at Craven Cottage, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners could not get the better of Sporting CP on Thursday as they only drew the game. With all to play for in the second leg, Arteta takes his troops to the other side of London to face a team that are having a hugely impressive season of their own.
As for the team news, it is unlikely that either Eddie Nketiah or Leandro Trossard will play any part. There is optimism that Gabriel Jesus could be making his much-awaited return to the team and that is a huge boost for the north Londoners.
Aaron Ramsdale will be back in goal after Matt Turner took to the pitch in Portugal. The manager will go with the same full back pairing that started at Sporting. Ben White and Alex Zinchenko are the ones that will be chosen.
There will be one change made among the centre backs as Jakub Kiwior will go back to the bench and Gabriel will replace him. The Brazilian and William Saliba will have quite a task on their hands to keep the Cottagers quiet.
Thomas Partey is another player who will return to the starting XI and take his place instead of Jorginho. He will be partnered with his usual combination, Granit Xhaka. Fulham are excellent at transitions and it is up to these two to prevent them from profiting from it.
Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson will start on the wings and look to attack with their pace and skill. The latter is in the midst of a hot streak and would want to make all of his appearances count. There is some doubt over the availability of Martin Odegaard, but the captain should be starting the game.
Gabriel Martinelli will get another outing as the central striker, as he is the only available option. The youngster has done well in the last two games as his movement and pace has caused the opposition defence a lot of problems.
Arsenal will be aware of just how difficult it is to beat Fulham and if they can come away with the three points, it will be a huge deal. The Gunners do have the talent to pull off the result, but they need to show the right mentality.
