Arsenal travel to the north of England to face off against Newcastle United in a game that can decide where they end up in the table, so let’s take a look at the team news.
The Gunners have put themselves on the back foot by losing to Tottenham and have given their rivals a chance to get back into the top four. Nothing less than a win would do at St. James’ Park for the visitors.
As for the team news, there are quite a few problems for Mikel Arteta to deal with. Both Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey are unavailable as they are still injured. And to add to this, Rob Holding is suspended for the game following his red card against Spurs.
There are also doubts over the availability of both Ben White and Gabriel as the manager confirmed that they are being assessed ahead of Monday. If either of them is not available, it will be a huge blow for the north Londoners.
Arsenal Fever View:
The magnitude of the next two games is just enormous for the club and the players will know that they are still in the driver’s seat. Win the next couple of games and they will make it to the Champions League. But that is not going to be easy against the Magpies who look like a completely different team under Eddie Howe.
They have a few players that can cause the visitors real problems and the likes of Cedric and Nuno Tavares need to be extremely careful. The best way to focus on Monday’s game is to put the north London derby loss behind them. If the players and the manager cannot flush out the previous result, it will affect the rhythm of the squad.
Arsenal have somehow managed to remain in the hunt for the top four and this is when they need to seal the deal. Beating Newcastle away from home is not going to be easy, so they need to be careful. Arteta will be hopeful that his team scores first as the Gunners have not been the best at overturning a deficit.
