Arsenal will continue their fight to finish in the top-four when they make the trip to Wolves on Thursday and the players have had some time to recover due to the extended break, so let’s take a look at the team news.
January has been a disappointing month for the Gunners as they have dropped some important points. Given the amount of competition surrounding the Champions League spots, they cannot afford to keep doing that. Winning at the Molineux would show that they mean business and can give other teams a run for their money.
There is some good news with the fact that no one has returned from the Dubai training camp with an injury. Both Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are done with their suspensions and will be available for selection.
Nicolas Pepe will also be available but there is some doubt with regards to Cedric. Takehiro Tomiyasu is a doubt for this game and that will be a big blow for the north Londoners.
Arsenal Fever View:
The hosts have proven to be a tough team to beat this season and big teams have struggled playing them. That should tell the Gunners how tough this game is going to be and it will be a good test to see where they stand.
As for Mikel Arteta, he would want his attack to combine well and create problems for the Wolves defence. The likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli can use their speed and skill on the ball to give the visitors some openings.
A lot of the onus will also be on the north Londoners’ leader in attack, Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman is the senior striker at the club and if he can get on the score sheet consistently, that improves the team’s chances of finishing in the top-four.
Arsenal need to focus on keeping things tight at the back and taking their chances on the counter. If they can do that, there is a good chance that they will return to London with a win.
