Arsenal had their unbeaten streak ended last week as they lost to Liverpool at Anfield and they are now back in London where they will host Newcastle United on Saturday, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
After not losing for a few months, the Gunners were undone by the quality of the Reds. Despite doing well to be in the game for the first forty minutes or so, they couldn’t maintain the same level of intensity. It will be a different kind of challenge against the Magpies, but the hosts would need to be better than they were last Saturday.
The defence despite conceding four goals actually did well and it is quite likely that Arteta would decide to go with the same players. Aaron Ramsdale will look to continue his good form in goal.
Takehiro Tomiyasu should continue as the right-back, and a change is expected on the other flank. Nuno Tavares was in line of fire last week and made quite a few mistakes. That could see the return of Kieran Tierney to the starting XI.
In the centre of defence, the boss has an easier task as the duo of Ben White and Gabriel have proven to be dependable. Against Newcastle, they will have an easier game and that could see the two play a bigger role in building attacks.
Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga did not do well against Liverpool as there seemed to be too many gaps between them. But despite that, this is the midfield duo that Arteta is likely to pick.
There could be a change made to the attack with Alexandre Lacazette dropping to the bench. Martin Odegaard will be the one to replace him and the team’s formation will move to a 4-2-3-1. And on either wing, it is going to be young stars Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, who should have a bigger role to play this weekend.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be licking his lips as he comes up against a defence that has already conceded 27 goals this season. If the captain gets a few chances, Arsenal can definitely get back on the winning track. Though Newcastle have a few talented players, they are not going to stop the north Londoners from getting the win.
