Arsenal fans have reacted to comments from technical director Edu, who revealed that the club needs some time to implement its plans.
This summer has been characterised by the spending power shown by the north London club as they have brought in six players. The money that has been put into the team, is the highest in the club’s history.
However, the early signs have been disappointing as the Gunners sit last in the Premier League table having lost three matches in a row and they are also yet to score a goal.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the Brazilian was asked about a lot of things including the transfer outlay. One of the questions was on the pressure that he and manager Mikel Arteta were feeling, to which he said:
“I respect all the pressure. I came in from Corinthians and then the Brazilian national team where there is unbelievable pressure, just as here.
“I understand the fans. I understand the reason and I accept that, but we will need a bit of time to do what we plan to do.
“I know this type of work, when we are talking about signings, and needing patience hurts Arsenal fans a lot, but it is the reality. That’s why when I say to you we have to create a good foundation and to create a good foundation you need time.”
This was not received well by the Arsenal fans who feel that the duo have been given enough time. They have been making their feelings known for some time and once again took to Twitter to express their displeasure. Here are some of the best reactions:
So close to 2 years isn’t enough? We went from “winning the CL in 3 years” to “give us time”, “project youth”…

This planning for the future thing is hilarious! How do you plan for a future you are not sure you’ll have? A smart man acts on both present and future…but hey,Arteta & Edu know better!😂🤦🏾♂️ Further proof Arteta won’t be sacked anytime soon!🤣

Doesn’t do much good if you get relegated in the process

The problem is I’m not seeing any sign of a plan on the pitch. Many players have lacked motivation and any direction at all thus far this season. I’m hoping to see something in the coming games because it’s hard putting up with this drivel

The problem isnt time the problem is that every big team has people in his position who need and have had the same amount of time and are doing much more with it . Arsenal aren’t a project in isolation they are against all the other who are doing it better. Time is a luxury

I think fans accept we need a rebuild, but it doesn’t take years to establish a recognisable style of play. We haven’t even got that, how can people be positive for the future when it looks like there is nothing to be patient for under this manager ?

Arsenal Fever View
Based on the business this summer, it is clear that the club are building a team for the future. The age group of the arrivals shows that a plan is in place to get the Gunners back to the top.
The only problem is that due to the current state of the squad, it will take a few years for the north Londoners to get back to where they belong. The arrivals this summer will surely develop into top-class players but to catch up with the rest of the teams, they needed something more.
More than Edu and Arteta, it is the Arsenal players that should be given some time as they need to start working together. The results are bound to improve and the hope is that the decisions made in this window will pay off sooner rather than later.
