Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday. Let’s take a look at the latest team news.
The North London club will want to make amends for the defeat at the hands of Aston Villa prior to the international break. Leeds will present a different kind of challenge so getting the three points won’t be easy.
As for the team news, the Emirates club will have to make do with the absence of three players. Mohamed Elneny and Sead Kolasinac will miss out after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Midfielder Thomas Partey will be unavailable due to an injury suffered against Villa. Apart from this, Mikel Arteta has a fully fit squad to call upon.
With the manager likely to stick to his 3-4-3 formation, it will be Bernd Leno in goal. In defence, the trio of Rob Holding, Gabriel and Kieran Tierney will keep their places from the last game.
At wing-back, the Gunners are likely to go with the trusted duo of Hector Bellerin and Bukayo Saka. They have been in great form this season and will play a crucial role in providing Arsenal some width in attack.
With Partey and Elneny set to miss out, Arteta will have to think of a new midfield combination. The most likely option for him would be to go back to Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos. The duo impressed big time at the start of the season, and will team-up once again on Sunday.
In attack, Arteta has a few selection headaches with Willian and Alexandre Lacazette struggling for form over the past few weeks. Both Eddie Nketiah and Nicolas Pepe have made strong cases for themselves.
It will be interesting to see who gets the nod, but it will probably be Pepe and Lacazette. They will be playing alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Getting the win on Sunday is crucial and the boss will be hoping that his players are up to the task.
