David Ornstein reveals crucial update on Aubameyang’s new Arsenal contract

Reliable journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new three-year contract with Arsenal.

The 31-year-old who joined the North London club in January 2018 has become the team’s primary goal scoring threat having scored 71 goals so far. Since being made the captain, Aubameyang has gone on to lead the club to an FA Cup and Community Shield.

The Gabonese striker’s contract was set to end in June 2021 and there were many question marks on whether the forward will commit to a new deal. However putting an end to speculation, David Ornstein has claimed that Aubameyang will put pen-to-paper on a three-year extension imminently.

In an exclusive report for The Athletic, the popular journalist also revealed that the new deal will make Aubameyang the club’s highest paid player. It further claims that Mikel Arteta played a key role in convincing the star striker to commit his future to the Gunners.

Aubameyang has been the Gunners’ top scorer in the last two seasons and his goal-scoring record makes for great reading. He has managed to rack up 71 goals in just 110 games which goes to show his remarkable consistency.

The Gabonese star played an integral role in the club’s record breaking 14th FA Cup win scoring a brace in both the semifinal and final of the tournament. He was made the captain in November and the added responsibility has not affected his form.

Though he plays on the left wing most of the time under Arteta, he has continued to show how lethal he is in front of goal. It is also vitally important for the club to ensure that they didn’t let the captain go. Tying him down to a new contract shows that Arsenal mean business and that they are looking to build on the success brought by the FA Cup and Community Shield.

Arsenal start their season at Craven Cottage and they will be looking for their captain to pick up from where he left off. If he gets the required service, there’s no reason why he won’t be able to win another Premier League Golden Boot and propel the Gunners back into the Champions League spots.
