William Saliba already in London, Arsenal to announce signing in the next 24 hours

Unai Emery

The move for young French center back William Saliba is all set to be made official by Arsenal within the next 24 hours according to Yahoo Sports journalist Manu Lonjon.

The reporter has confirmed that the deal could be made official on either Wednesday or Thursday. French publication Le Progres are also reporting that the deal could be announced sooner than later.

They claim that Saliba already happens to be in England and that should mean that the announcement from the North London club will be coming any time soon.

This deal has taken some time to be completed with there being a lot of negotiations happening between Arsenal and French club Saint Etienne.

Both the clubs have finally come to an agreement with the English club all set to give the French team a transfer fee in the region of €30m. This was deemed good enough by Saint Etienne but they insisted that the defender be sent back to France on loan for the 2019/20 season.

Saliba is rated as one of the best young center backs in the world of football today and for Arsenal to get him represents a great bit of business. Though he is one for the future, when he does come to the Emirates, the youngster will arrive as a great talent who would have matured a little bit more.

The extra season that the youngster will get to spend in France will certainly expand his footballing education and make him a more rounded player which is what the Emery will want. It would have been better for the club to have him this season but the pressure of the Premier League may have proven to be too much.

Saliba coming to join Arsenal is also significant due to the fact that there was a last-minute attempt from rivals Tottenham who tried to hijack the deal. This shows that the club still has some pull when it comes to getting players even though they do not have the allure of Champions League football.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that the official announcement will come sooner rather than later as they have been waiting for a long time for this deal to happen.
