The top four race is set for an epic finale. Despite starting the game in 6th position, Arsenal jumped to fourth place after holding onto a one nil lead following an early bizarre goal by Aubameyang.
With first and second spot being a contest of just two titans, four teams are battling out for the remaining two Champions League places and it will be a good time to access the team with ‘cojones’.
Here are the 3 things that caught our attention:
Away from home agony persists:
Arsenal‘s away form this season has viciously been questioned from all quarters and Emery still has a lot to do prove otherwise. Out of 16 away Premier League matches the Gunners have just won 6. The gaffer’s tactical approach to away matches is yet to bear a conclusive performance.
It seems that he prefers to be unadventurous away from home something that really puts the team under pressure. Watford were reduced to 10 men in the early stages of the game but still, the Emirates club failed to control the match. The Hornets kept Emery’s men under constant pressure and a defeat may have been hard to take a given how they got their act together after Deeney getting his marching orders.
Mkhitaryan woes:
What’s going on with Micki? This is one of the questions every Arsenal faithful must be grappling with at the moment. Since his swap deal from Manchester United he has been far from impressive just as was the case when he was there. Did he ever adapt to the Premier League?
The Armenian’s talent is irrefutable but he has done little to censure any ruthless discussion about him. Against Watford, he was below average and just a shadow of the player who delighted the Borussia Dortmund faithful a few years back. He was indecisive with his performances throughout the 90 minutes and fans are starting to be edgy with such erratic performances despite his potential.
Impeccable Leno:
Arsenal’s number one is certainly one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League this season. Given the amount the North London club invested on him and what some big clubs spent, it is easy to see why everybody thinks he is a decent bargain.
His rise has been a steady one over the season and he is now flying high. Leno’s save percentage stands slightly above 70 percent and only Hugo Lloris and Allison better these figures. At Vicarage road he made the difference, saved Etienne Capoue’s almost perfect free-kick and also blocked Cathcart’s wicked close-range volley. Given his difficult start at the club, it is only fair to say that he has been terrific.
