When the Gunners signed Matteo Guendouzi last summer, he was bit of an unknown quantity. But over the season, his performances have been very encouraging and fans have grown fond of him.
This has seen other clubs look at the Frenchman as a potential signing. As per reports from Express, Paris Saint-Germain are looking at bringing Guendouzi back to France. It states that the North London club have set a £60 million price tag on the youngster.
The Express further states that Unai Emery will be reluctant to sell the midfielder but the Spanish boss has only been handed limited funds for summer transfers. So, Emery might consider selling the midfielder to boost his kitty.
Given that Arsenal signed the midfielder for as little as £6 million, they will make a huge profit, if the deal does go through.
January transfer activity has already proved that Kroenke is unlikely to hand Emery much of a budget for this summer. With Guendouzi also turning out to be one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League, the club have placed a huge price tag on the youngster.
Even the Frenchman might be surprised to see how many games he has already played for the club. His consistent performances have earned him the manager’s trust and that is evidenced by the games he played.
Getting a huge transfer fee such as this will help the Emirates club get more players and it will not be a shock if the club do sell him in the summer.
Another factor that could play a part in this deal is the fact that Guendouzi spent nine years in the youth academy of PSG. The midfielder may see this as an opportunity to return home.
The summer transfer window is still a long way away and things could change but the North London club have set a price for any club that might be interested.
After losing Aaron Ramsey for nothing, the club would do well to get a big fee for one of their players. But until a deal does happen, Guendouzi will be focused on helping the Gunners get back to the Champions League and his contribution will be important to achieve that.
Arsenal will next play the second leg of the Round of 32 fixture against BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday.
